Introduction
greenMine is an Agricultural expert system, which provides the information about crop production and management to farmers and researchers. It assists the farmer to improve productivity. The system contains two main parts planning part and analysis & management part. Agricultural production is a complex problem that involves many parameters and requires very complicated optimization and modeling steps. The overall production management problems involve, among other aspects, land preparation, water and fertilizer requirements, pest control, variety selection. The crop production management problem also includes the lack of enough experts to support the agricultural growers, and the heavy dependence upon the experience of these experts. This makes the choice of the expert system approach for the solution of this problem a suitable.
Planning System
It gives the advice before cultivating a crop. We are considering the following functionalities for this part.
- Variety selection.
- Land preparation and Planning.
- Irrigation.
- Fertilization.
Analysis and Maintenance system
It diagnosis the problem that occurs during the crop growing season and gives about how to control these problems. We targeted the following functionalities.
- Disorder diagnosis.
- Treatment.
- Labour details.
- Price details.
At present, we are limiting our scope to a single crop (Paddy). We are developing a system for paddy production and management.In the architectural view the system is divided in to three components and the designing process is going on.
- User-Interface Design.
- Inference engine Design.
- Knowledge Base Design.
